Staying Active With Your Dog
Regular walks and playtime with your dog? Yeah, that’s not just “good for you,” it’s basically forced exercise. You think you’re gonna sit on the couch all day? Nope. Your dog’s standing there with the leash in its mouth like, “Let’s go, buddy. Chop‑chop.” And honestly… it works. You end up moving more because your dog has zero respect for your lazy days.
Having a dog basically signs you up for a fitness program you didn’t ask for. You’re out there walking, running, throwing a ball like you’re training for the Olympics. And guess what? Your heart’s getting stronger, you’re burning calories, and suddenly you’re like, “Hey, I can actually breathe when I go up the stairs now.”
I take my dog out for morning runs just to keep both of us in shape. And German Shepherds? Forget it. These dogs are machines. They don’t “like” walks—they need them. You skip a day and they look at you like, “Really? This is who we are now?” So you’re out there jogging at 7 a.m. while your dog’s trotting along like it’s nothing.
And the dog park? Oh, she loves that. She’s out there sprinting around, making friends, living her best life while I’m trying not to pass out on a bench. But hey—keeping her active keeps me active. And in the long run, it means we both get to stick around longer, healthier, and happier.
So yeah, dogs keep you moving. Not because you’re disciplined, but because they drag you into being a better version of yourself.
